We want to honour Rangpur people: Safwan Sobhan

Bashundhara Group Vice-Chairman and Rangpur Riders Managing Director Safwan Sobhan Tasvir said his team want to take Rangpur to a new height in the cricketing arena of Bangladesh.


He further said his team want to honour the people of Rangpur by achieving title in the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League, scheduled to start on November 3.
He briefed journalists during the opening ceremony of a friendly cricket match between physically challenged cricketers, organised by Rangpur Riders at the Rangpur Stadium on Wednesday.


“Please pray for Rangpur Riders and support us more. I will try my best to develop Rangpur’s cricket,” Safwan Sobhan Tasvir added.
He also distributed wheelchairs among disabled people of Rangpur.
Bashundhara Group Director Yeasha Sobhan graced the programme as special guest.


The event was aimed at raising awareness about the plight of physically challenged people. Rangpur Riders has partnered with the initiative as a part of their relentless effort to connect with the home base and to provide an opportunity to the physically impaired people of Bangladesh for a better future.


Among others, Bangladesh ODI captain Mashrafe Mortaza, former national cricketers Shahriar Nafees, Mohammad Mithun and Abdur Razzak were present on the occasion.
After inaugurating the friendly match, Mashrafe said: “People should come forward to cooperate with the disabled people.”


He insisted that all should create a better condition for the physically impaired people so that they can live better life with their families.
“The change might not be possible in a day, but gradually their rights will be established in the society,” he added.
Mashrafe sought blessings for Rangpur Riders from the people of Rangpur division for the forthcoming BPL season.


“We came to Rangpur to seek blessings. We have come here to select some players from Rangpur division, who will be played in elite group in the forthcoming fifth season of BPL.”


He urged the people to pray for the Riders to bring glory for Rangpur by achieving BPL title.
Bangladesh skipper also talked about the recent performance of the Bangladesh National Cricket Team.
“Our young talents are doing well over the years. They are showing good performances for the team one after another,” he said.


Mashrafe added that South Africa series will be very important tour for the Tigers. He hoped to display a better performance in South African soil next month.
