Sheikh Jamal President Safwan Sobhan expects more trophies

Bashundhara Group Vice-Chairman and Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club President Safwan Sobhan Tasvir asked players to gift him more trophies in the coming days as he believes that they have formed a ‘tremendous’ team for the next season 2022-23.

The Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club President was gifted a trophy of BFF U-18 Football League 2021-22 on Monday as Sheikh Jamal’s age-level team clinched their maiden title at the mid of October.Safwan Sobhan, who is also the Rangpur Riders Managing Director and T Sports Chairman and Managing Director, met with the senior and junior footballers of the club at the Industrial Headquarters 2 conference room in Bashundhara R/A in the capital.

The Sheikh Jamal President met with the club’s adviser Mehrab Alam Chowdhury, secretary Foyezur Rahman, senior team’s local and foreign footballers, coaching staff and  and he wanted to know from them about their preparations for the upcoming season.

Then, the club’s junior players, coaching staff and officials gifted him the trophy of BFF U-18 Football League 2021-22.

“We formed a strong team and strong support team. I think it is a very good combination and all of my players are energetic and enthusiastic. I see here my players are young and energetic. I will tell my players to use their energy on the field with positiveness,” Safwan Sobhan said to the club.

“I believe that under leadership of me and my new management Sheikh Jamal have become a ‘tremendous’ team. I wish you boys will gift me more trophies in the upcoming season as you gifted me (BFF U-18 trophy) today,” he further said.

He also said that his new management won’t put any pressure on players; rather they would provide them all types of support for being better on the field. “This is new management. We will not put any pressure on you as before. You will be stress-free; if there is any problem you will directly inform the management. My management will always be there to support you. Our main focus is how to focus you more on the sports,” he added.

However, the club formed a strong 31-member senior team for the next season 2022-23, which will start with the Independence Cup from November 13-December 5. 

The top-outfit signed Paraguayan defender Jorge Aguilar, Saint Vincentian forward Cornelius Stewart and Uzbek midfielder Nodirbek Mavlonov while retained Gambian forward Sulayman Sillah and Uzbek forward Otabek Valizhonov.

They also roped in National team defender Raihan HasanI and goalkeeper Mohammed Nayeem roped in their squad.

Apart from them, the club signed Qatar-born Bangladeshi midfielder Obaidur Rahman Nawab and brought the national U-20 team forward Piash Ahmed Nova on loan from Bashundhara Kings. 

The club started their pre-season camp under the newly appointed coach Maruful Haque and former national goalkeeping coach Biplob Bhattacharjee on October 15.
